Alexei Petrov is one of the most talented young representative pianists of the Russian piano school. Besides his performing activity, Alexei since childhood took a great interest in composition which has given his art a composer's innovative sight and scale of thinking. Brightness, improbable speed of coverage of repertoire, musical depth and boundless technical freedom are characteristics of the creative individuality of the pianist.
Alexei performs in the best halls of Russia: the Large and Small halls of the Moscow conservatory, on the stage of the Theatre of the Soviet Army (Moscow), in philharmonic halls of Ekaterinburg,Orel, Smolensk, Voronezh, Krasnodar and other cities of Russia. He has given recitals all over the world: in the USA, Japan, Latin America, England, Georgia, France and other countries.
He has been actively engaged  in programmes with known symphonic orchestras, including: with the Moscow State Symphonic Orchestra, with Trinity Orchestra Harrow, Aurelian symphony, Rochester Symphony,Tbilisi National Orchestra, RCM Sinfonietta, the Symphonic orchestra of Montevideo.
He has also co-operated with such known Russian and foreign musicians, as Richard Tognetti,Boris Berezovsky,Dmitry Orlov, Peter Stark,A.Takhidze, V.Ponkin, Peter Bassano, Stephen King, Michael Murray, Nicholas Sherwood, David Wilson  and Bryan Davenport. He took part in many festivals of Russia and the CIS countries.
Recent performances  are including participating in Folle Journee in Nantes, Maribor Festival in Slovenia, Biot Festival in France, Chopin Festival in Georgia, Pianoscope festival 2009 in Beauvais.
Alexei Petrov's biography includes participation and prizes at many prestigious international competitions: 2nd Prize at The 1st All-Russia Music Competition in Moscow,1st prize at Andorra International Piano Competition, 1st prize at First Moscow International Piano Competition «Modern Art and Education» where he received a special prize for the best performance of the Russian composer and Mikhail Pletnev's special prize. Also Alexei has won the Contemporary Piano Competition at RCM playing his own composition «As a flower at a nuclear power station», the winner of the Concerto Competition at the Royal College of Music, 1st prize in Birmingham International Piano Competition,the 1 prize in Chappell Piano Competition at the Royal College of Music, the 2nd prize in Norah Sande Piano Competition, the 3rd prize in Senigallia International Young Pianists in Italy.
Alexei Petrov was born into a family of musicians in Moscow; he started his education in 1990 in the Central Music School in the class of the famous representative of traditions of Russian piano school Elena Hoven. In 1997 he continued his studying with the known pianist and the winner of many international competitions, Andrei Pisarev. In 2001 Alexei entered Moscow State conservatory by P.I.Tchaikovsky in the class of Professor Andrei Pisarev. In 2005 has studied in the class of the professor Zynaida Ignatieva. Since 2007 Alexei Petrov has been a post-graduate student in a class of Professor Vanessa Latarche at the Royal College of Music.
In 2009 he got Postgraduate Diploma and in 2010 he got Artist Diploma at Royal College of music in London.
